Interview with the founders of She Changes Climate for the November Feature of The New Feminist (22nd November)

Bianca and Antoinette had young people in mind when they co-founded She Changes Climate in November 2020. Their story began with a realisation. As they looked at the leadership team for the 26th United Nations Climate Conference (COP26), they noticed that a mere 15% of the positions were held by women.

Part 2 of the interview with RNLI lifeboat volunteers for Sussex Bylines (22nd November)

Each year there are about 70 RNLI ‘shouts’ to the Newhaven volunteers. Unsurprisingly, after completing so many rescues, Nick Gentry, Katie Dusart and Will Morris hold the utmost respect for the sea.

Day five at COP26 as 'roving reporter' for Sussex Bylines (17th November 2021)

Sussex Bylines’ roving reporter at COP26, Anna Scott, spent last week on the streets of Glasgow with activists and campaigners, joining marches and demos, and recording her impressions and conversations with the many people that she met…

News piece for The New Feminist Magazine (13th November 2021)

As the 26th United Nations Climate Conference (COP26) was about to start in Glasgow this week, four strong female climate activists have written an emergency appeal calling world leaders to face up to the realities of the climate crisis. Greta Thunberg, Vanessa Nakate, Dominque Lasota and Mitzi Tan published their letter Emergency Appeal for Climate Action!

Day four at COP26 as 'roving reporter' for Sussex Bylines (9th November 2021)

As I turned towards Kelvingrove Park, the start point of the Youth March for Climate Justice, I saw police officers on horseback patrolling the streets, young activists flocking there like moths to a light.

Day three at COP26 as 'roving reporter' for Sussex Bylines (5th November)

Project initiator, Barbara Keal, had invited me to join their morning march so I made my way towards St George’s Tron church, sincerely hoping I would find them. I needn’t have worried – Barbara was wearing a bright yellow coat and an iconic rabbit ear hat, impossible to miss.

Day two at COP26 at 'roving reporter' for Sussex Bylines (November 4th 2021)

As day 2 of my roving drew towards a close I found myself sitting at an IKEA table in the Green Zone which sported a slogan urging us to “assemble a better future”.  More greenwashing? I’m unconvinced that IKEA are the most environmentally friendly furniture company around.

Written for the news & politics section at The New Feminist Magazine (4th November 2021)

Agreements made at the 26th United Nations Climate Conference (COP26) will impact all our futures. For women, indigenous peoples and non-binary and transgender women, the stakes are disproportionately higher at the talks held in Glasgow this month.

Day one at COP26 as the 'roving reporter' for Sussex Bylines (3rd November 2021)

I was en route to my youth hostel from the station late this afternoon when a distant clanking noise caught my attention. It heralded the arrival of a small but determined Extinction Rebellion protest marching towards a busy road. I couldn’t help but join them!

Interview with 3 RNLI lifeboat volunteers for Sussex Bylines (22nd October 2021)

It all starts with a call, a bleeping pager warning of trouble off the coast of Newhaven, East Sussex. For RNLI lifeboat volunteers, this means only one thing – a shout, or call-out, is about to begin.

Feature piece for online magazine Adventure Uncovered (8th August 2021)

My dad can often be found staring intently at a tree. He may well be holding a hand lens or caught carefully folding a white paper envelope. For a botanical recorder, this behaviour is to be expected. It is how you decipher the code that will reveal the identity of a tiny, green moss.

Guest post for Regeneration Centre celebrating a launch of a new project (6th April 2021)

We are all, as human beings, interwoven with the natural world. Yet our awareness of this connection can be immensely influenced by where we live. Regeneration Centre’s new project, Sheridan Court Community Garden, will transform an unused green space in Greater Manchester into an urban garden.

Collaborative guest post for the Charityworks graduate trainee blog (18th December 2020)

December the 18th marks International Migrants’ Day. A chance to celebrate stories of collaboration between those who are settled and those who are new in a community. This year the International Organization of Migration has chosen to focus on social cohesion, sharing personal stories using #WeTogether.
